Clifden Castle is one of the most impressive buildings you'll come across in the Connemara Region. It dates back to 1812 and was built by John D'Arcy who actually founded the town so it's got plenty of history. Originally the castle's grounds covered over 17,000 acres as the D'Arcy family had owned this land for over 150 years.
